Youri Djorkaeff at Red Bull New York Media Day 2006:

firstrowidiots.com (FRI): Do you see a big difference in the team between last year and this year?
Youri Djorkaeff (YD): Yes. Yes. On the field we are maybe more experienced players. There is more players here who played for 5-6 years in the league who can bring something that last year we're missing.
FRI: But aside from experience, is there more determination in the players? Because as a fan, I've watched, and a lot of times, except for few players like yourself, it was almost like we lost, we won, it didn't really matter.
YD: But you can trust me this year it will be changed. Because, it's a sport where you can't accept the defeat, you can't accept defeat. It’s not possible to be same after the defeat or a victory and the mentality changed and this year we are maybe more aggressive in defense to say, ok, every game will be hard, but every game we will be playing for winning.
FRI: And is that because of Mo?
YD: Yeah. It’s nice. Mo bring this mentality. He's more hard with the player
and with the young guys. He's asking a lot from the player and this is good because you can't say I'm young and maybe next game will be better. No, every game is very important.
FRI: As the most experienced and accomplished player, what's you outlook for the season?
YD: You know, just to be sure. Everybody is very excited. But we are on the field, it’s not Red Bull who's playing, it's the players. You know today it's a big change with the name, the club, with the stadium…many things. But as players we have to be really focused on what's happening on the field and I don't want to be…to lose this [focus]. It’s not because it's a new locker room, a new logo on the shirt, new things…we are on the team and we have to be careful, when everybody is excited, the player have to be very careful.
FRI: Last year, which is the best team you played against? Why?
YD: New England. Because they were very good in defense…very very good everywhere, midfield and attacking.
FRI: Thank you.
YD: Thank you, bye.
