The King and I -- Donde Esta El Rey?

Coming up with a King and I report for last Saturday's game against the Revolution proved to be a comedy of errors for this particular Idiot. Or, more accurately, una comedia de errores. I was going to miss going the game due to a previous golf commitment, only to reinjure my back just before teeing off. Shortly before I left on Saturday, I made sure to Tivo the Metros game on the Fox Sports New York network. Had I bothered to read the program description, I would have learned that this was the Spanish language broadcast of the game, rather than the Ingles version on the MSG Network. Undaunted, I took this as a positive sign, firmly believing that the King would be more likely to put one or more in el bolsa de cebolla if I watched the game in his native tongue.

King Report: My strategy proved to be a failure, as Bob Bradley chose to go with the combination of John Wolyniec and Fabian Taylor to start the game. Bob stuck with this lineup, despite the Metros early 2-0 deficit. Even after the Metros drew level in the 48th minute, Cornell Glen was the first choice off of the bench. In a pass which the King would have converted with his eyes closed, Glen scored the game winner in the 68th minute. As the game wound down, I kept anticipating the King. My wait was fruitless, as John Wolyniec played the entire game. To make matters worse, the slight delay in the start of the game for a 9/11 commemoration, as well as the siete minutos of injury time meant that I missed the end of the game due to the Tivo shutting off. Unfortunately, the Internet confirmed that the King stayed on his throne the entire game.

King Stats: zero minutes, zero shots, unknown number of headbands.

King Rating (out of four): 1 hair (he still is the King)

King Fact: El Rey ha rayado sólo una goal esta temporada por los Metros.
